Why Create Karma?
In pop culture, karma can mean fate or the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person’s deeds in the previous incarnation. For us, karma, from the sanskrit kárman, which means “to do, make, or cause”.
To create karma is to generate an action or make or cause something to happen. Our mission is to help people choose what actions they want to take and then give them the tools to take those actions or create karma. Our two trainings, the LEAP and MEET are designed to create leaders who create karma for the population they would like to impact. These leaders will experience ontological, transformational leadership through the pathway of embodied wellness.
Why Yoga Works
The way I see yoga portrayed in the media is either as an athletic pursuit, embraced by predominantly white, upper-middle class, women who move like a graceful and inaccessible flock of spandex-clad gazelles, or as a new-agey, kombucha-swilling, spiritual platitude-speaking land of do-gooders who are mostly concerned with themselves.
In my experiences of teaching and leading yoga, both nationally and abroad, inside and outside of the traditional studio atmosphere, I connect to the power of yoga to radically transform us. The tools of yoga are for EVERYONE— they are the tools to help you meet your environment with physical, emotional, and mental resilience. These simple, accessible practices teach you the basics of using your breath, meditation, physical alignment and engagement, and self-inquiry to uncover inner obstacles. Each distinction frees us to take action and create our lives as a choice.
I believe we truly get access to these tools to personal empowerment by taking two actions:
- Practicing them on a regular basis
- Sharing them with others
If you would like to experience full-spectrum yoga for yourself, our leadership trainings are designed to take you on a journey to expand your life in the fields of wellness, community, and leadership by deepening your relationship with yourself and the community around you. There will also be opportunities to experience classes and workshops with select facilitators. If you would like more information, please contact us directly or register for our mailing list.
